Children in action

Children in Action (CA) is a coed group designed for boys and girls to come to faith in Christ as Savior while making missions an important part of their daily lives. They learn what it means to live a missional lifestyle while they participate in Bible studies, missions projects and engaging activities. They also have a lot of fun as they "travel" to various places around the world when they learn about and pray for the work of missionaries.

Children love to share God’s love. And, children love to learn by doing. Through missions discipleship, children learn to share His love in multiple ways, from collecting school supplies for back-to-school backpacks to passing out water at sports events, from taking a meal to a homebound community member to even sharing a smile or a prayer with someone who needs it.

You can teach children about missions by helping them:

learn about missions,

pray for missions,

give to missions,

do missions,

and participate in the work of the church.

Wednesday Nights: 6:30-7:30 pm

Awana club

What is AWANA?

AWANA is a club for boys and girls (ages 3 through 12th grade). Clubbers play games, recite verses, work in their handbook, and hear a message from God’s Word.

The name AWANA comes from 2 Timothy 2:15 and stands for Approved Workmen that Are Not Ashamed.

How do I get my child involved?

Bring your child to Live Oak Baptist Church at 5 PM on Sunday. (August through May) to register your child.

How Parents Can Help

Encourage regular attendance

Help and encourage your child to pass sections. (Sparks and T&T clubbers will need to pass at least 2 sections per week to complete their handbook in one club year.)

Encourage your child to spend 10-15 minutes a day on their handbook.

Show interest in your child’s accomplishments.

upward soccer

Founded in 1995 by Caz McCaslin in Spartanburg, SC, upward Sports has grown to become the world’s largest Christian sports league for children. The first-class sports programming—which includes basketball, flag football, soccer and cheerleading—provides a fun sports experience based on healthy competition for kids, teaching skills for the sports arena and values for life.

The Upward Sports Ministry provides an opportunity for boys and girls from Kindergarten-6th grade to participate in a variety of recreational opportunities in a fun and encouraging environment. Upward ensures all athletes enjoy equal playing time, instructional practices and game experiences, as well as a sound Bible study and Scripture memory program.

Live Oak Baptist Church currently offers Soccer.

Upward volunteers are our church members and members of our community who come from all walks of life and are involved by praying for the program, coaching a team, refereeing a game, or sharing a devotion.
